The Turlock Regional Aviation Association (TRAA) is inviting children ages 8 to 17 to join them for Young Eagles Day at the Turlock Municipal Airport, located at 13604 Newport Rd., Ballico, on Saturday.

The EEA Young Eagles program will provide free flights for the children in FAA certified planes beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Children will get a chance to to go through the pre-flight check and be given a headset to hear from the traffic controller.

Breakfast will be provided for the participants, as well as arts and crafts.

Participants can register the day of the event or pre-register at the Parks, Recreation, and Public Facilities office, located at 144 S. Broadway. Those who pre-register can select a time between 8 a.m. and noon or noon and 4 p.m.

The event is advertised to end at 4 p.m., however Todd Smith of the TRAA said they will go until all of the kids get to fly.

Last year’s event had more than 200 kids attend, and even more are expected to attend this year.
