The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Thursday that Foster Farms is recalling nearly 40,000 pounds of frozen, pre-cooked chicken products due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
Recalled are the frozen “Chicken Breast Grilled Strips” product that was produced on Aug. 5 at a Louisiana establishment and then shipped to retail warehouses in California, Texas, Utah, and Washington state.
The affected product packaging bears the establishment number “P-33901” as well as the Best by Date of Aug. 5, 2015.
“The problem was discovered during the company’s routine in-plant inspection,” said the FSIS in a statement. “While some of the product was set aside and held, the product subject to this recall was inadvertently shipped. FSIS and the company have received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of these products.”
Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns, although those outside these groups can still be affected.
Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea. The infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature-delivery, or life-threatening infection of the newborn in pregnant women. The infection can be fatal in older adults and those with weaker immune systems. Those who experience flu-like symptoms within two months after eating the contaminated food should seek medical attention and mention the contaminated food.

This is it, I haven’t bought Foster Farms In quite a while because in my opinion, the incidences of food recalls are too frequent. It is highly likely that I won’t ever buy this brand again, period.
40k pounds of chicken recalled? what a waste – not only were the chickens living in abusive conditions, they were killed inhumanely, all in the name of making sure poor fat people can feed their poor fat faces, and poor fat children. but now all that meat is worthless. when you consider that a half pound of meat comes from a chicken – can you figure out how many chickens were killed?
how many gubment subsidies is foster farms getting to feed poor fat government subsidized people?

people shouldnt eat this chicken. they recalled it because they ship it to china to process since its cheaper and then it becomes infected due to cheap labor and no standards.
As a foster farms employee I laugh at a couple of these comments. You guys have no idea what you are talking about. If you feel so strongly about processing plants then buy your own animals and kill them yourselfs. As for diseases, all animals carry them. COOK your food properly. Send it to china; REALLY LOL
