Turlock Firefighter, Local #2434 have officially began selling their pink shirts with proceeds going to the Bill & Elsie Ahlem Cancer Endowment in Turlock.

Firefighters began taking pre-orders for businesses recently, but were at the Turlock Farmers Market on Friday morning to give the public a chance to pick up a shirt.

The pink shirts, which will be sold throughout the month of October, are $15 each and available in many sizes.

For those who were unable to pick up a shirt at the Farmers Market on Friday, shirts are also being sold at the Emanuel Medical Center Gift Shop at 825 Delbon Ave., Bella Forte at 200 W. Main St., Suite C, and Crivelli’s Shirts at 310 E. Main St. Shirts are even available online, here.

Turlock Firefighters will be at every Farmers Market through the month of October, including the next, and final, night Farmers Market, which will be held on Oct. 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. The Farmers Market runs every Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Broadway Avenue between A Street and West Main Street.

This year Turlock Firefighters decided to sell the shirts a week early, said Fire Captain Frank Saldivar. Typically they begin selling the pink shirts at the first Farmers Market in October.

Along with the sale of the shirts, firefighters will be sporting the pink shirts during the whole month of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Shirt sales have already taken off, with one local resident purchasing 15 shirts for her family at Friday’s Farmers Market, said Tony Nascimento of the Turlock Fire Department.

Saldivar added that Cost Less Foods in Turlock is purchasing 50 for all of their employees to wear each Monday and Friday. Not only will Cost Less employees be showing their support by wearing the shirts in October, but they’re expected to wear the shirts until December.

Even Mayoral candidate Gary Soiseth, who has already been endorsed by Turlock Firefighters, Local #2434 Political Action Committee, stopped by the booth to pick up his pink shirt.
