The Turlock Police Department has released the name of the 51-year-old man who was hit and killed while riding his motorcycle on Ninth Street in Turlock on Wednesday evening.
Randell Beede, 51, of Turlock, was pronounced dead upon arriving to an area hospital.
Beede was hit by a vehicle while he was traveling northbound on Ninth Street; a gold sedan traveling southbound on Ninth Street when they hit Beede while make a left turn on Rockwood Avenue.
Turlock police and fire responded at approximately 4:48 p.m. and found Beede on the ground with life-threatening injuries to the head.
Beede was not wearing a helmet, said Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.
On behalf of the officers’ on-scene, Turlock Police Chief Rob Jackson would like to extend his condolences to the Beede family.
The collision is under investigation by the Turlock Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).
The driver of the sedan, a 25-year-old male, was questioned, but released at the scene. He was not injured in the collision.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision, said Lewis.
Wednesday’s collision occurred approximately one block from the the fatal hit and run that killed a 4-year-old boy, his mother, and his grandmother in September. The driver of the hit and run is facing three counts of murder, among other charges.
