The Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees will have a public meeting Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the Professional Development Center, located at 1100 Cahill Ave.
Prior to the public portion of the meeting, Trustees will meet in closed session at 6 p.m. to discuss on-going bargaining negotiations with the Turlock Teachers Association and the California School Employees Association.
To open the public meeting Brown Elementary student Tyson Weatherbee will provide an inspirational message and Maryann Godje will lead the flag salute. Both are this month’s TUSD Character Counts Students of the Month for the character trait of citizenship.
At 6:41 p.m. students from the Pitman High School FFA will present information about their activities and accomplishments. Following them the board will congratulate junior and senior students from Pitman High School, Roselawn High School and Turlock High School receiving Stanislaus County's Seal of Multi-lingual proficiency to be affixed to their transcript and diploma.
Beginning at 7:16 p.m. there will be a period for public discussion where anyone from the public can address the board. Each person will be limited to three minutes.
On the consent calendar, the board will consider accepting donations in the amount of $500 to the Crowell Elementary music program from Valley First Credit Union, a $500 donation from Mr. Frank Baudino to the THS Band, a donation from Mr. James Griffiths the PHS Orchestra for a stand up double bass at a value of $1,600, a donation from Memorial Hospital to the THS FFA Club for $1,700, and lastly a $500 donation from Mr. Alan Bernikoff to the THS Drama Department.
Later in the meeting, at 7:27 p.m., the board will consider adopting a resolution to honor November as Sikh American Appreciation and Awareness Month.
Lastly at 7:30 TUSD Technology Department will give the board an update about on-going tech implementations happening throughout the district.
