Mike Brem, 14-year member of the Planning Commission will step down as a commissioner just prior to his term’s expiration in late December.
The Turlock Planning Commission will recognize Brem for his years of service at the Thursday, Nov. 6 meeting.
Brem previously served as Chairman to the Commission until December 2013; during that time, he oversaw the City’s General Plan update.
The Gilroy native and California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo graduate moved to Turlock in 1992 to start SupHerb Farms from which he recently retired as President.
Brem has been involved in the community in many different capacities serving as chair of the Turlock Mayor’s Economic Development Task Force, and previously as a Member of the Turlock Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Committee, as well as president of the Turlock Rotary Club. In 2009, Brem sought appointment to the vacant Turlock Irrigation District Director seat.
Most recently, Brem ran for the Mayor of Turlock seat against Mayor-elect Gary Soiseth.
He has been married to his wife, Tina, for 37 years, with two sons and four grandchildren.
The Planning Commission meeting, that also includes the consideration of Dust Bowl’s 30,000 square-foot brewery expansion, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Yosemite Room of Turlock City Hall, 156 S. Broadway.
