The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian who was hit while attempting to cross Geer Road on Thursday afternoon.
Authorities have identified the victim as Khananshoo Safarkaylan, 66, of Turlock.
Safarkaylan was hit by the driver of a silver Toyota Camry who had made a right-hand turn onto northbound Geer Road from westbound Minnesota Avenue.
The driver, and 83-year-old female, made a legal right turn on a green light and the Safarkaylan was not in the crosswalk, said Turlock police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Webb.
After the low-impact collision, Safarkaylan was transported to an area hospital, but was pronounced deceased due to his injuries.

How was it low impact of he was thrown 30 feet according to the other reports?
Prayers to the family. Think about taking out the funeral home as for Allen mortuary. It’s very distasteful.
Well, he won’t be crossing the street outside of the crosswalk again.
To Mary,
All reports say the victim was NOT in the crosswalk when struck. All reports indicate that it was a low speed impact. Other reports indicate that the victim was about 30 feet north of the crosswalk, not that he was thrown that far.

It’s one word. Pot kettle black…
This man was always known to walk in the crosswalk he was dragged out into the road. The report is wrong in saying he wasn’t.
