In honor of Veterans Day, several local representatives and organizations have been thanking veterans across all branches of the military for their service.
State Assemblymember Kristin Olsen (R-Modesto) took to Facebook to remind everyone to thank those who have served.
“Remember to thank a veteran today for their selfless service to our country and protecting our freedoms!” said Olsen.
U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) said he is honored to be able to serve those who have served in the military.
"Today and every day, we salute the men and women who have worn the cloth of our nation," said Denham "I am eternally grateful for the service and sacrifice of our veterans. I consider my opportunity to serve on the Veterans Affairs Committee an honor as I work to protect the peace and freedom they have fought to preserve. May we always remember their dedication to our great nation."
California State University, Stanislaus has been actively thanking veterans recently, hosting two events over the past couple weeks.
On Oct. 29, local Korean War veterans were honored with Ambassador for Peace Medals by Denham and the South Korean consulate.
The CSU Stanislaus Troops to College Committee and Veterans Affairs Office also held the sixth annual “Thank a Veteran” event on campus on Nov. 5.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback, and Turlock native, Colin Kaepernick also used social media to honor those who have served.
“Thank you to all our veterans!” Kaepernick posted on his Instagram on Veterans Day.
Businesses around Turlock are also taking their chance to thank veterans with some special offers on Veterans Day.
