The Turlock Police Department is currently investigating a hit and run where four pedestrians were struck while crossing the road.
At approximately 5:47 p.m., a vehicle traveling westbound on West Main Street hit four pedestrians who were crossing the street at the intersection of West Avenue, said Turlock police spokesperson Lt. Ron Reid.
Three children, who were with an adult babysitter were hit, but only one suffered a minor injury to their mouth, said Reid.
The babysitter suffered serious injuries, but they are believed to be non-life-threatening, said Reid. The babysitter was transported to an area hospital.
An elderly couple was seen driving away, but witnesses were able to catch the vehicle, said Reid..
According to Reid, the couple is currently being detained, but no arrests have been made at this time.
Traffic is currently blocked in all directions around the intersection and motorists are advised to find alternate routes.
The collision is currently under investigation.
A pedestrian was hit and killed less than a week ago while crossing Geer Road on Nov. 6. The victim was not in the crosswalk when they were hit.
