As an annual fundraiser, the Bell Real Estate Cycling Team is continued their effort to purchase 50 new bicycles for less fortunate children in Turlock.
Bell Real Estate Cycling Team concluded its “Eat Cupcakes Kids Get Bikes” drive last week and is now asking for help from the Turlock community for its Bikes for Kids GoFundMe drive to complete the team’s goal of raising $10,000 and purchasing 50 or more new bicycles for less fortunate children in Turlock via the Turlock Salvation Army.
The Eat Cupcakes Kids Get Bikes drive raised nearly $2,800 as 99 dozen cupcake orders were delivered to local people and businesses in Turlock. But organizer Robert Bell says the cupcakes were only the first portion of their efforts.
“The last two years the GoFundMe is what has really raised the most money,” said Bell. “So far we have about one-third of our goal of 50 bikes. The Eat Cupcakes Kids Get Bikes is more local but the GoFundMe has a much larger reach.”
The GoFundMe and cupcake sale last year raised enough money to buy 23 bikes.
This year there is an impressive list of thank you gifts for donors. If you donate $150 you get a Bell Real Estate Cycling Team Polo shirt, $250 and you receive a nice set of the five “Bell Bath Tub Brews” — a set of five home-brew beers including a pale ale, IPA, stouts and porters. A $500 donation will earn a pair of Oakley Fuel Cell Sunglasses — you can pick the color. Lastly, a $1,000 donation will earn a ride in the cycling team car and a 3-day stay with food and lodging at Camarillo, Malibu and Santa Barbara during a race.
Donations of all amounts will still be accepted, however only the amounts listed above will earn donors the thank you gifts.
