After beating Pleasant Grove High School to win the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championship on Friday night, the Pitman Pride Volleyball team have been named Northern California’s No. 1 seed in the CIF Division I State Championship Tournament.
The Pride (41-1) will face No. 8 Oakland Tech on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the tournament. The game will be played at Pitman High School.
Pitman could potentially see their opponents in the Sac-Joaquin Section Championship, No. 4 seed Pleasant Grove, in the second rounds of the playoffs. Pleasant Grove will face No. 5 seed San Ramon Valley on Tuesday.
The Pride defeated Pleasant Grove — 25-20, 22-25, 23-25, 25-15, 15-12 — for the first section team championship in school history.
However, Pitman is not the only team representing Turlock in the CIF state championship tournament.
Turlock Christian is the No. 3 seed in the CIF Division VI state championship. They will take on Fall River in the first round of the championship on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Turlock Christian High School.
