Although many area residents might head to Modesto for their Black Friday shopping spree, Turlock has a number of stores with a score of deals for those who decide to stay local.
For those looking for truly local deals, Woods Furniture (Taylor Court) offers 12 months financing on purchases from $499 to $1,599, 18 months financing on purchases $1,599 to $2,899 and 36 months financing on purchases $2,899 and above.
Yonan’s Jewelers (Geer Road) will also be offering Black Friday deals on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Last but not least, Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital (Monte Vista Avenue) will be offering $100 gift cards for only $75 online Black Friday through Cyber Monday.
Not to be outdone, however, several chain retailers will have deals beginning early on Thanksgiving for those who are tired of stuffing.
CVS (Countryside Drive) has their own Black Friday flyer, staying open 24 hours and offering hot deals on candy, toys and select CVS vitamins. Dollar General (Geer Road), open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thanksgiving day, has a flyer promoting 50 percent off trees, ornaments and lights — must-haves for the holidays. Walgreen’s (Geer Road) will also be open 24 hours. Rite Aid (Monte Vista Avenue) will be open from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers similar deals.
For the gamer in the family, both GameStop locations will be open and offering deals such as a $329.99 Xbox One Holiday Value bundle including digital copies of Assassin’s Creed Unity and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. There’s also a $399.99 Playstation 4 bundle including Grand Theft Auto V and a digital copy of The Last of Us, remastered. Zelda fans will have to hurry in for the GameStop exclusive — the $39.99 Legend of Zelda Monopoly. Geer Road will be open from midnight to 9 p.m. on Friday. Countryside will be open from midnight to 10 p.m.
Target (Countryside Drive) has hundreds of doorbusters this year, including savings on HDTVs, computers, mobile devices and more. With deals like $97 for Beats by Dr. Dre Solo HD Drenched Headphones, $99 for a Nikon L330 20.2 MP digital camera with a 26X zoom lens and $119 for an Element 40” 1080p LED HDTV, shoppers had best get there early to beat the crowds. Target will be open from 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving until 11 p.m. on Friday.
Kohl’s (Countryside Drive) will be open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving until midnight on Friday and tends to corner the market in clothing deals. This year, however, they have a deal on a Direct LED HDTV for only $99, along with 50 percent off all toys. They’re also offering $149.99 for a 3DS XL bundle including Mario Party Island Tour.
JCPenney (Countryside Drive) will be open as early as 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving night and remain open until Friday at 9 p.m. Doorbuster deals include $19.99 for women’s boots from 9 & Co., Arizona and more along with the chance to win in a $100 coupon giveaway.
Old Navy (Countryside Drive) plans to churn out massive clothing deals of their own, opening at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving and staying open until midnight on Black Friday. Their biggest offer? 50 percent off the entire store Thursday and Friday only.
Sears (Main Street) will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and offers huge cuts on Kenmore refrigerators, washers and dryers. There’s also a $99.99 Craftsman 3-door project center and a $99 whole-room infrared heater from Kenmore.
Staples (Countryside Drive) has more than just office supplies to offer. Open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving and 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Black Friday, they have deals on countless electronics. From $99.99 for an ASUS laptop with an Intel processor to $99.99 on a Samsung 23.6” widescreen LED monitor, Staples might be worth a stop.
In that same vein, Michaels (Geer Road) also makes some great offers and will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Black Friday. They offer deals on holiday necessities, such as $89.99 on an 8 ft. pre-lit Willow tree. There are hourly deals including 30 percent off an entire purchase made from 7 a.m. to noon or 40 percent off a regularly priced purchase from noon to 10 p.m.
Offering up some deals on electronics, Radio Shack (Countryside Drive, Geer Road) will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Thanksgiving and will be reopening from 5 p.m. until midnight. Their deals include up to 70 percent off all toys, $200 worth of savings on a Samsung Galaxy S5 and more.
Not to be outdone, Wal-Mart (Fulkerth) will be open from 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving and through the following night. There will be events at 6 and 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving, as well as one at 6 a.m. on the morning of Black Friday, so don’t miss them. Most impressive of all is the one-hour guarantee kicking off at 6 p.m. Among their best deals are $218 for a 50” Class LED HDTV and $199 for an iPad Mini with 16Gb and Wi-Fi capabilities.
Big Lots (Geer Road) will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and will be offering Polaroid 10” Quad Core 4.4 Androids for $79.77, $288 for a Harbortown Faux Leather Sofas and $399 for 60” Media Fireplaces. All these, along with deals on Christmas decor.
The new businesses in the Monte Vista Crossings expansion intend to join in on the chaos this year, seeing as Dick’s Sporting Goods (Countryside Drive) will be open from 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving until 10 p.m. on Friday.
JoAnn’s and Maurice’s, both in the same plaza, will also have Black Friday deals in addition to Styles for Less and Sketchers. JoAnn’s will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Black Friday, while Maurice’s will open from 7 p.m. to midnight on Thanksgiving and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday. Their deals started tonight, in fact, and include a coupon to Buy One, Get One 50 percent off. Skechers will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., with Styles for Less opening from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Thanksgiving, then from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday.
If there are makeup-lovers on your list, Ulta will be open from 8 p.m. on Thursday to 10 p.m. on Friday. Their deals are just as impressive, such as $19 for the Joy at Lash Lip & Lash Set from Tarte— a $43 value. They also promise big savings on bareMinerals, Smashbox, Butter London and more.
