A driver collided with a traffic signal at the intersection of Monte Vista Avenue and Golden State Boulevard after being involved in a pursuit with police on last Friday night.
The driver, Douglas Mendonca, 48, was a suspect in a stalking case, according to Turlock police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Webb.
Turlock police attempted to stop the suspect at approximately 9:46 p.m. near East Hawkeye Avenue and North Palm Street, said Webb, but the suspect failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated.
A few minutes later, the pursuit ended at the intersection of Monte Vista Avenue and Golden State Boulevard when the driver collided with a traffic signal at the intersection.
Mendonca was injured in the collision and was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Webb.
The case remained under active investigation for several days following the pursuit, but Mendonca was finally arrested on Tuesday after spending several days in the hospital.
Mendonca was arrested at a Modesto hospital for felony stalking and felony evading, said Webb.
