The Red Cross teamed up with the Turlock Fire Department on Jan. 17 to install 130 smoke detectors in a Turlock neighborhood.
In addition to the installed smoke detectors, volunteers from Red Cross and Turlock Fire Department installed 100 carbon monoxide monitors and changed the batteries in 78 smoke detectors.
The partnership between Turlock fire and Red Cross is an opportunity to educate citizens on the importance of properly installed and working detectors.
In November of last year, the two partnered to install 86 smoke detectors in neighborhoods in the west side of Turlock.
The Turlock Fire Department says this is an effort reduce the risk to the local community.
