The Turlock Police Department has issued a release updating the description of the suspect wanted for striking a toddler in the roadway on Lambert Way Friday evening and fleeing the scene.
The suspect in the hit and run is now described as a Hispanic male juvenile or young adult, approximately 16 to 19 years old, standing approximately 5 feet 10 inches with an average build. He was driving a 2000 gray Ford Focus four-door sedan or possibly a gray Honda four-door sedan.
At approximately 5:11 p.m., the driver struck a toddler in the roadway on Lambert Way near North Soderquist Road.
Following the collision, the suspect stopped briefly at the scene then returned to his vehicle and fled the scene, reports the Turlock Police Department.
The child was “severely injured,” reports the Turlock Police Department. The child was medi-flighted from the scene, however was said to be in stable condition Friday night, according to Turlock police spokesperson Sgt. Jesse Bawcum.
The Turlock Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver and locating the vehicle. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Turlock Police Detective Brandon Bertram via the Turlock Police Department Dispatch, 209-668-1200.

Soooo……..the child was in the road, where were the parents?
What a dumb question to ask? Does that matter right now?(to the idiot that commented) Hope they catch him
Where the hell was the parents? WHy the hell was a kid in the road? Sorry but it was partly the parents fault for not watching their kid. At the same time why did the kid flee the scene? Did the toddler step in traffic and he couldn’t stop in time (which makes it the parents fault) and then he freaked out and fled the scene which was completely wrong.. Or was he just not paying attention and hit the kid?? Either way the teen was wrong in fleeing the scene and the parents were wrong for not watching the kid. Without more details whos to know who is more at fault.. But I hope they catch that teen cause he shouldn’t have fled the scene and I hope the toddler survives. My heart goes out to the toddler
I’m pretty sure the parents (or a guardian/adult) were there. I doubt the toddler was the one who gave the description of the car and person. I hope the little kid is doing okay.
And no, the person at fault is the DRIVER behind the wheel. People are taking driving WAY too lightly. You are behind a 3000 lb (or however much a car weighs) moving object, YOU THE DRIVER should take that seriously. You should be going slow enough to STOP if a child/adult/animal/object goes in front of your car and either not hit them or at least not hit them so hard they had to be FLOWN to a hospital. This was in a neighborhood street, not Geer, he should have been driving slower and have been on the look out. AND STAYED!
There are so many horrible drivers in Turlock the past two years because people aren’t taking driving seriously. I used to live in L.A. and I go there often still and honestly, crossing the street in Turlock is much more dangerous these days.
This is a good example of what this area is turning into: a nasty ghetto. Driving through the west side I often see toddlers running loose in the streets. Where are their parent/s??? Too high to be responsible probably. And the piece of garbage that hit this kid needs to be taken out of the gene pool. I’ve got 5 bucks that says he’s an illegal alien…..one of the ones that wasn’t able to pass the DMV test in his own language.
