An online fundraising campaign has been started to help cover the legal costs for Robin Duane Boyer, 60, who was arrested for the shooting death of 25-year-old Brandon Pacheco.
Boyer was arrested on Friday morning and charged with murder, after going around 19 months without a charge.
Pacheco was shot and killed by Boyer in July of 2013, claiming that he shot Pacheco after seeing him trespass on his property several times leading up to that fateful day. It is believed Boyer saw Pacheco on his property the morning of the shooting and confronted him.
Boyer is currently in custody at the Stanislaus County Jail without bail.
Since the shooting death, there has been much debate about property rights. Boyer’s supporters have come to his aid by starting a fundraising campaign on Rally.org.
According to the fundraiser page, the campaign is to help Boyer and his family with legal expenses, with the hopes of raising $20,000. As of Monday afternoon, nine supporters have donated for a total of $525.
“Please help support Rob and his family,” it says on the fundraising page. “Help support his right to protect himself, his family and his personal property!”
Originally, a GoFundMe page was started, but was taken down shortly after and replaced with the Rally.org page.
