During the upcoming irrigation season, growers will be able to track water usage and order water 24 hours a day on the Turlock Irrigation District website.
Irrigation customers can order water 24/7 by simply signing up for an account on TID’s website.
“The biggest advantage to the farmer is number one, 24/7 access,” said TID spokesperson Calvin Curtin. “So they can do it any time they want and they don’t have to wait.”
Once a customers makes a request online, that request is sent to irrigation service department, who will request the service of water and have the water distribution operator deliver the water.
Last year, according to TID spokesperson Calvin Curtin, approximately 10 percent of all water orders came from online orders.
However, even more customers were using the website to monitor their water usage.
TID’s website allows customers, once an account has been set up, to track their water usage including how much has been used and how much is left for the season.
“It’s not real time, because it still has to be completed by the Irrigation Services Department, but it’s pretty close to real time,” said Curtin.
To place an online water order once the irrigation season has started, simply visit TID.org, click the “Irrigation Water Request & Usage” link, and sign in or register, if you don’t currently have an account.
If you have any questions, call the TID Water Call Center at 209-883-8456 and they can assist you in setting up an account.
The irrigation season has not been set by the TID Board of Directors, however TID is expecting record-low water allotment once it is set, most likely on March 24.
