While booking a subject for a DUI on Saturday afternoon, Turlock police found that the vehicle he had been driving was stolen.
Turlock police received a report of a driver, who was slumped over his steering wheel, traveling southbound on Geer Road, near Regis Street, shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, said Turlock police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Webb.
A short time later, the Turlock Police Department received report that the vehicle had collided with another vehicle, said Webb.
Officers arrived and determined that the driver, later identified as Michael Ferrell, 23, had been driving under the influence.
While Ferrell was being booked on the DUI, the owner of the vehicle that Ferrell was driving called to report that the vehicle had been stolen, according to the police report.
Ferrell was arrested and booked for DUI and auto theft.
No injuries were reported from the collision.
