The suspect in an April 1 Modesto shooting was arrested by Turlock police early Thursday morning after a pursuit ended with the vehicle colliding into a pole.
Two other suspects were arrested as of result of the pursuit, which began after an officer interrupted an attempted burglary, according to Turlock police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Webb.
Sean Smith, 26, was wanted by the Modesto Police Department for attempted murder after allegedly shooting a 48-year-old male victim in Modesto on the morning of April 1.
According to Modesto police spokesperson Heather Graves, Modesto police were dispatched to H Street, near Fifth Street, in Modesto on April 1 after receiving report of a victim in a vehicle that had been shot.
The victim was rushed to an area hospital and underwent surgery after authorities located the man in a vehicle that was facing the wrong direction on H Street, which is one way, according to Central Valley TV.
Further investigation found that the shooting took place on Beverly Drive, near Ritsch Lane, in Modesto. The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office has conducted most of the interviews with the victim’s friends, so a motive is unknown at this time, said Graves.
Smith was taken into custody by Turlock police on Thursday morning and was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on charges of attempted murder, attempted burglary, conspiracy, and felon in possession of a firearm.
An officer on patrol spotted Smith attempting to pry open the door of Smoke Depot, located at 500 Lander Ave. in Turlock, at approximately 4:39 a.m. on Thursday.
Smith then got into a vehicle, driven by Ricky Beets, 31, and after Beets failed yielding to officer, a pursuit entailed, said Webb.
The pursuit, which lasted six minutes, ended when the vehicle crashed into a pole at the intersection of Golf Road and Linwood Avenue, said Webb.
Both Beets and Smith fled on foot, however, both were eventually apprehended. Beets was chased and caught in the 1600 block of Golf Road; Smith was later located and taken into custody without incident in the 1200 block E. Linwood Avenue at approximately 5:18 a.m.
A third suspect, McKayla Dollard, 26, had been ejected from the vehicle during a turn and was also taken into custody. Dollard was located by Turlock police in the 200 block of Fifth Street at approximately 4:57 a.m. She did not suffer injuries from the ejection.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle driven by Beets was an unreported stolen vehicle.
Beets was arrested for attempted burglary, conspiracy, felony evading, hit and run, auto theft, and resisting arrest.
Dollard was arrested for a parole violation.

Dollard was located in my neighborhood after she was wondering and I asked if that bad crash was still there at 6am this morning.
