The California State University, Stanislaus Department of Theatre will be performing William Shakespeare’s “King Lear” for free under the stars this spring.

“King Lear,” a dark and mystifying tragedy, is the sixth annual outdoor Shakespeare production at the University. This year the production is directed by Patricia O’Donnell and feature Jere O’Donnell in the titular role.

Performances will be held each night from April 28 through May 3 beginning at 8 p.m. in the University Amphitheatre. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. each night.

Guests can bring blankets or low-backed chairs to sit on and are welcome to bring their own food and drinks to enjoy at the event; no glass containers or alcohol are allowed.

Performances are free and free parking is available in parking lot 3 at the University.

For more information contact the Department of Theatre at 209-667-3451.
