TurlockCityNews.com

The San Joaquin Air Pollution Control District and Valley CAN are inviting valley residents for free smog tests at the Tune In & Tune Up car clean-up event on Saturday.

The smog tests will be done in the north parking lot of the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds, located at 900 N. Broadway in Turlock. The tests are free for the first 525 drivers.

Testing will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., but the event gate is subject to early closure should the maximum number of vehicles be serviced.

In addition to the free smog tests, if a vehicle does not pass smog, its owner will receive a $500 voucher for smog repairs at a participating STAR certified shop.

Only testing will be done; there will be no smog certificates issued at the event.

Free food will be served beginning at 9 a.m., while supplies last.

Drivers should expect a two-hour wait or more.
