Thanks to the generous donations from the local community, Turlock firefighters had another successful boot drive on May 16.

Turlock Firefighters Local #2434 raised $11,432.60 for their “Random Acts of Kindness” fund, which is intended to be used to benefit the local community in some way.

Each year, the fund donates money to help displaced families, set up scholarships, and put on Every 15 Minutes events at local high schools.

“We are very thankful we have a very giving community,” said Turlock Fire Captain Frank Saldivar.

Last year, the fund was used to buy materials to replace the bleachers at the Julien Elementary Baseball Diamond that were stolen by metal thieves.
