Junior Lifeguard Training Begins Monday, Positions Still Available

Turlock teens can still sign up to join the City of Turlock junior lifeguard training program, which begins Monday, June 22.

The training program is designed for those interested in learning how to respond to aquatic emergencies and those wanting to learn the foundation for further training and employment as a certified lifeguard.

The program includes approximately two weeks of training, followed by shadow work with a certified lifeguard.

Junior Lifeguard I training begins Monday, with training taking place 12:45 to 2:15 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays until July 2 at the Turlock High School pool.

The Junior Lifeguard I training is open to males and females ages 11 to 15 years 11 months.

Junior Lifeguard II training begins July 13, with training taking place 12:45 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays until July 23 at the Turlock High School pool.

Those wanting to sign-up for the Junior Lifeguard II training program must have taken the Junior Lifeguard I training within the last 14 months. Junior Lifeguard II training is open to males and females ages 12 to 15 years 11 months.

Cost for the training programs is $76 each.

Online sign ups for the Junior Lifeguard I training program has closed, but teens can still enroll at the City of Turlock Recreation office, located at 144 S. Broadway, until Monday.
