The Modesto Police Department has arrested the suspect in the May 25 homicide in Turlock, reports Central Valley TV.
Thomas Gonzales, 34, was arrested for murder on Friday evening and remains in-custody in the Stanislaus County Jail.
Turlock police spokesperson Sgt. Russell Holeman confirmed Saturday that Gonzales was wanted for the May 25 homicide in the 1000 block of Denair Avenue.
Gonzales had been identified by Turlock police as a suspect in the homicide and a warrant was issued for his arrest, said Holeman.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Modesto police officers conducted a traffic stop on Crippen Avenue in Modesto.
When officers ran the license plate number of the vehicle and it came back as being a vehicle connected with the homicide.
Gonzales, the driver, pulled over and surrendered without further incident. A passenger in the vehicle was detained, but later released.
Around 11:30 p.m. on May 25, Turlock police responded to the 1000 block of Denair Avenue, near Starr Avenue, on the report of a shooting that had just occurred. Oscar Peralta, 38, of Turlock, had been shot multiple times and later succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital.
Very little information has been released on what occurred before and after the fatal shooting.
