The Turlock Fire Department is battling a large fire at a house in the 2000 block of Royal Wood Lane.

As of 5:45 p.m., the fire appears to be contained, but the fire department remains on scene for overhaul.

Much of the residential area is closed to traffic and smoke continues to pour from the single-story home.

There is extensive damage to the home, however, a dollar figure is not available at this time.

Turlock firefighters are battling the blaze with the help of the Turlock Rural Fire Department and AMR, while Turlock police are also on scene.

You know what would have been really nice and, you know, journalistic-y of you, Brandon? An update as to what caused this.

Wow, the Turlock FF actually went to a REAL fire, who knew? With over 90% of their calls ambulance runs, this has to be the first house/building/commercial fire in a long time!
