California State University, Stanislaus is reporting that a suspicious device has been found on campus and citizens should stay out of the area.
The device was found on campus by a facilities worker, who notified the University Police Department, said CSU Stanislaus Senior Writer and Content Specialist Brian VanderBeek.
The area north and west of the police department on campus has been blocked off, including Merced Way, which runs through the university. However, there have been no evacuations at this time, said VanderBeek.
Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad has just arrived on scene to assist with the situation.
CSU Stanislaus released an emergency message via the Stan Alert system, but residents in the nearby area have not been directly notified.
