The California State University, Stanislaus has announced that the “suspicious device” located on campus Friday afternoon was not a threat.
The area where the device was located has been cleared and is now reopened to the public, CSU Stanislaus tweeted.
A portion of campus north and west of the University Police Department was closed due to a device located by facilities worker.
The employee contacted the University Police Department and the area was closed off until Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad came to assist.
The bomb squad sent a robot into the field to collect the device, which ultimately was determined to not have been a threat.
It is unknown at this time what the object was, but it appeared to be attached to a sign.
