The Turlock Public Library has a month full of fun, free crafts, and activities for all ages throughout August.

The fun will kick-off on Aug. 4 at 4 p.m. with a popsicle party for children. Popsicles will be available while supplies last. Colored popsicle sticks will be available for purposeful play, such as sorting the popsicle sticks by color and creating patterns.

On Aug. 5 at 10:30 a.m., the Turlock Library book club will meet to discuss The Paris Wife by Paula McLain. A limited number of copies are available for checkout at the library. Please contact the Turlock Library Reference Desk at 209-664-8100 for more information.

Children can celebrate the works of Mo Willems at 4 p.m. on Aug. 11 when kids can enjoy a Willems story, followed by a pigeon craft.

Craft-a-palooza will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 4 p.m. Children will use their creativity to design their take-home crafts with a variety of library craft supplies.

On Aug. 19 at 10 a.m., children can enjoy sensory play. This program, designed for children ages 5 and under, allows young children to explore a variety of textures. This self-guided exploration stimulates brain development and helps develop a child’s sense of touch. Children must be directly supervised by an adult.

The “As Seen on Pinterest” craft program will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. This month crafters will make decorative plates using plain white plates and Sharpies. This program is recommended for ages 14 and older. Registration is required; please call the Turlock Library at 209-664-8100 to register.

Finally, the very popular LEGO day will take place on Aug. 25 at 4 p.m. All ages can build displays for the library. LEGO play helps children learn basic math and engineering skills in a fun, hands-on environment. Children under the age of 4 are welcome to participate, however, they must have direct parental supervision.

These programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Turlock Library. The Turlock Library is located at 550 Minaret Ave. in Turlock. For more information, please contact the Turlock Library at 209-664-8100.
