Turlock police arrested a registered sex offender on Saturday evening after he allegedly asked a 13-year-old to perform a sexual act on him.
Lemuel Cabatuando, 38, was arrested on suspicion of annoying or molesting a juvenile.
Cabatuando approached the 13-year-old female at Markley Park around 6 p.m. on Saturday and asked her to perform a sexual act on him, said Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.
When Cabatuando asked the victim she immediately ran home and told her mother what had happened, said Lewis.
The victim’s mother drove around the area searching for the suspect. Once she located the suspect, she called the Turlock Police Department.
Officers responded and located Cabatuando in the area of Brookstone Drive and Wellington Lane. Lewis said that officers then took him into custody.
Cabatuando has prior history and is a registered sex offender, according to the Megan’s Law website. He is required to register for an incident that occurred outside of California.
In 2005, Cabatuando admitted to touching the necks of women without their consent in the state of Indiana, according to the Ripley Publishing Company. Cabatuando told law enforcement that he touched the women’s necks for sexual gratification.
