Turlock bid its Fire Chief farewell as Friday was Tim Lohman’s last day with the City of Turlock.

City Officials, family, friends, and members of the community gathered at Turlock’s Fire Station 1 on Friday to celebrate Lohman’s retirement and acknowledge his many years of service as a firefighter.

“I want to thank the citizens of Turlock for their support for the Turlock Fire Department. Today is my last day working for the City of Turlock, and it has been a privilege serving my hometown for the past 35 years,” Lohman stated on the City of Turlock Fire Department page. “Stay safe, and keep our firefighters in your thoughts as they continue to serve this community."

Lohman announced in May that he would be leaving the Turlock Fire Department effective Aug. 15 to take over as the chief executive officer of the Northern Merced Hulling Association (NMHA).

“I have been very fortunate to achieve all of my career aspirations in the fire service, and after 35 years of working for the Fire Department, I felt it was time to move on and try something else,” Lohman told TurlockCityNews.com back in May.

Chief Lohman started his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter with the City of Turlock on July 1, 1980. He was hired as a full-time firefighter on Dec. 1, 1983. During his career, he has served as Fire Engineer, Fire Captain, Battalion Chief, Division Chief of Training, Division Chief of Operations, and for the last 4 ½ years as Fire Chief.

Lohman took over as interim Fire Chief on July 1, 2010 when Chief Mark Langley retired. He was then appointed Fire Chief on March 1, 2011, by City Manager Roy Wasden.

“In addition to firefighting I have also been farming almonds since 1989, and I wanted to try a second career in agriculture,” said Lohman.

On Aug. 17, he will be taking over as the CEO of the Northern Merced Hulling Association (NMHA) for Don Harcksen, who plans to retire in April 2016, according to Lohman.

“I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from some great people during my time with Turlock, and I will take those lessons with me as I start a new job,” said Lohman.

The City of Turlock is currently searching for Lohman’s replacement and had published a job posting stating the expected pay to be $10,026 to $12,187 monthly, with excellent benefits.

On Aug. 11, the Turlock City Council approved budgeting $25,000 for the retention of a recruitment firm to conduct an executive recruitment for the position of Fire Chief.

The city bids farewell to fire chief and bids hello to fat pension payouts to someone who probably didn’t earn it compared to non government jobs.
Just wait until the economy crashes, the ol’ chief won’t be gettin those checks.
Keep letting your labor get taxed slaves.

Tim Lohman is a joke, just another one of turlocks corrupt officials that gets heavy pockets and ignores actual issues we have on hand. He is about as useless as Roy Wasden and Robert Jackson. This town is in the weeds! Farewell Lohman, you will not be missed.

The fire fighters union spent tons of $$$ to buy Sosieth, Bublak, & DeHart. Why are you surprised. The “Kid” is a drunk, who thinks he’s climbing the political food chain. What happened to the new chief, the city was supposed to hire? Did he have some ghosts in his career closet? What was he hiding? I’m sure the whole mess will cost the city (taxpayers) more money!

What ever happened to the big investigation on the Turlock Chamber? Wasn’t there lots of money missing? I think it was all made up so Sosieth & Bublak could get rid of Sharon Silva because the Chamber didn’t support them. I predict there will be no missing money and the Sosieth-Bublak team will have wasted even more of our money!

How come no one thanks the private sector. They always say we need more cops more firemen more teachers. Nobody says anything about selfemployed people paying their taxes so the takers of taxes have a great job. Maybe someone sould say we need more small buisness guys who make 65,000 yearly to pay for public sector jobs. How many 65,000 dollar jobs does it take to pay one 125,000 dollar salary.

I am in disbelief reading these ignorant comments. It’s apparent that none of you have been in the position of needing the services the fire department provides. If you had, you would be thanking God everyday that there are good folks like Tim risking their lives daily to protect idiots like you! You obviously have never met Tim nor do you realize all of the things he does for our community and Ballico (volunteer fire). I suggest you idiots stick to the things you are capable of which to me sounds like: ordering fast food, watching sports or reality tv. Yeah, everything is awesome when you’re living in a dream!

I know tim lohman. spoken with him and I like the man and Ive been to his home in ballico. I was pointing out that we in none public positions never get any recognition. Also “services” provided by the fire department when needed are paid by us and are for us of turlock. I love all firemen and women. 200,000 dollars it was not long ago when thats what we paid the president of the usa.

What the heck is a “ballico”. Whenever I see something that can’t possibly exist on earth or be explained by logic or reason and can only be explained by human manipulation of nature, I say ” dude, that is so ballico”.

I also enjoy using the term “ballico”. When someone says something obvious to me, I say, “What do you think I am? Some type of Ballico! Or when you want to shake someone down you can say…”Let’s go ballico on him”
