The Turlock Police Department was investigating a collision that reportedly claimed the life of a pedestrian crossing Lander Avenue on Friday night.
Central Valley TV first reported that Lander Avenue was closed between South Avenue and Bernell Avenue due to a taped off police scene.
Emergency services and Turlock police responded at approximately 7:15 p.m. with a call of a collision near the Lander Avenue and Bernell Avenue intersection.
According to initial information by crews on scene, a female pedestrian was crossing Lander Avenue in the crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle.
A grey four-door sedan was traveling northbound on Lander Avenue when it hit the woman in the crosswalk.
Following the collision, the driver stopped and cooperated with the police investigation.
Authorities say that alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in the collision, reports Central Valley TV. The driver’s identity has not been released at the time of this article.
The pedestrian died as a result of her injuries.
The identity of the pedestrian has not yet been released.
Lander Avenue was closed off until approximately midnight while Turlock police were still on scene investigating the fatal incident.
