John H. Pitman High School, Stanislaus State University, and Turlock High School all honored their respective graduates in their school commencement ceremonies.
Last year, over 1,000 seniors graduated from the Turlock Unified School District. This year approximately 1,000 gained alumni status from their respective schools.
PHS and THS are now short hundreds of seniors with the graduation of the senior Pride and Bulldogs this week. Senior Pride gathered to the center of the school for their commencement ceremony, and the Bulldogs gathered to Joe Debely Stadium for their 109th commencement ceremony.
Among those in attendance for the ceremony were Superintendent of Turlock Unified School District Dana Salles Trevethan and the TUSD Board of Trustees. Board Clerk Barney Gordon spoke before the audience at PHS and Board President spoke before the audience for THS.
“My father always told me measure your friends, not in good times, but in times of need. One of the greatest things you will take from your high school experience is the gift of friends and friendship,” stated Board President Lima to the graduating Bulldogs.
A new generation of college graduates also arose this week with the graduation of the Stanislaus State seniors and graduate level students. Three ceremonies over two days was hardly enough to keep all the excitement in check.
Nothing was able to stop excited families from seeing their friends or loved ones moving accomplishing one of the big milestones an individual can reach in life. Regardless of how bad parking got, how far the trek to the ceremony was, and how hot the sun would be, Turlockers finally got see what their friends and family had spent years toward achieving.
Congratulations to the graduating classes of 2016!
