Turlock will once again celebrate Independence Day with the annual 4th of July Fireworks Show hosted by California State University, Stanislaus.

Last year, Turlock and the surrounding region came together to celebrate Independence Day and to enjoy the much anticipated annual fireworks show’s return to the Stan State location, instead of the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds show.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. July 4 with activities for children and will conclude with the fireworks, which will start after sundown.

This year’s firework show will last for approximately 30 minutes, according to Stan State.

Fireworks, which will be launched from lot 11A on the southeast end of campus, will be visible throughout campus, but visitors are encouraged to view them from the large grassy areas west of Fitzpatrick Arena.

Clearly marked walkways on campus will show guests to the best viewing spots.

CSU Stanislaus will also provide handicap access for those who need it. The quad area outside Fitzpatrick Arena will be the best area for those with disabilities to view the fireworks, said Lynch. Signage will also direct drivers where to drop off handicapped guests.

And of course, don’t forget to bring a chair or blanket!

Guests are welcome to bring food and drinks for the event, but this is an alcohol-free event. Barbecues and fireworks will not be allowed on campus.

Parking for the event will be free and uniformed officers will be on-duty guiding drivers where to go. Parking lot 8 — accessed from Geer Road — and the eastern portion of lot 11 — accessed from Monte Vista Avenue — will both be closed due to proximity to the fireworks.

Additionally, street parking along Geer Road, Monte Vista Avenue, and Crowell Road will be prohibited beginning the morning on July 3.

During the event, beginning at 6:30 p.m., Monte Vista Avenue will be closed between Geer and Crowell roads. Parking lot access will be available at Dels Lane, Geer Road, Crowell Road, and Christoffersen Parkway.

When leaving the event, officer’s will give instructions to motorists, as some roads around campus may be one way.

Turlock will also be the home to the annual Independence Day Parade, 4th of July Car Show, and street faire in the morning. The street faire will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the parade starting at 10 a.m.
