Two suspicious dumpster fires break out downtown Monday night

On Monday, March 22nd, 2021, at approximately 8:15 pm, the Turlock Fire Department received a call of a dumpster fire behind Jack in the Box located at 100 N Golden State Blvd. Due to all Turlock Fire units being committed to a different fire, Ceres Engine 15 responded.

Ceres Engine 15 arrived on scene about two minutes later to locate a dumpster fully involved. They began attack and had the fire under control within minutes and fully extinguished shortly thereafter.

A little over an hour later at approximately 9:20 pm, the Turlock Fire Department received a call of a dumpster fire behind Speedy Pete’s at 231 S Center St. Battalion 4 and Engine 31 were dispatched.

Battalion 4 and Engine 31 arrived on scene about three minutes later to locate a dumpster fully involved. They began attack and had the fire under control within minutes and fully extinguished shortly thereafter.

Both fires were deemed suspicious and suspected to be arson due to their time apart and locations. Anyone with information regarding these fires should contact Fire Marshal Mark Gomez at 209-669-2119 or by email at MGomez@turlock.ca.us.

Teen Shot in the Rear-End by Other Teen

At about 2:20pm Wednesday afternoon, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s and Turlock Police responded to a weapon offense that had just occurred at a residence in the 900 block of Kenwood Avenue, after several callers had reported hearing about 10 shots in the area.
