At about 6:07 pm Monday evening, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported aggravated assault that had just occurred in the Walgreens Center located in the 1500 block of Geer Road.
The reporting parties, who were all third party witnesses, provided dispatch with the suspect’s description and last known location, which was relayed to responding officers. Officers checked the area for the suspect, however, were unable to locate him.
Officers made contact with the victim and multiple witnesses to begin investigating and taking a report. For an unknown reason, the suspect began striking the victim. During the assault, the security guard dropped his radio, which was then picked up by the suspect and used as a weapon in the assault. The victim had recorded the assault on his cellphone and the video was turned over to police. Police also reviewed and took a copy of video from surveillance cameras in the area.
The suspect was identified by officers who had previous contacts with him and a warrant was issued for his arrest. His identity is currently not being released.
The investigation remains on-going.
