At about 6:00 pm Thursday evening, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a security check at the intersection of East Hawkeye Avenue and North Denair Avenue, Turlock.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a silver Volkswagen sedan in the eastbound left turn lane of East Hawkeye Avenue with its driver passed out behind the wheel. Officers boxed the vehicle in and attempted to wake the driver up by knocking on his window. He wouldn’t wake up originally, but eventually did when officers knocked hard.
Officers removed the driver from his wheel and began conducting standardized field sobriety tests on him. Officers developed probable cause from the tests to effect an arrest.
The driver was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a breath alcohol content at or greater than .08.
