At about 4:57 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported dangerous driver at the intersection of North Golden State Boulevard and Dels Lane, Turlock. An off-duty Turlock firefighter had called into dispatch and reported that he was following a vehicle southbound on North Golden State Boulevard that could not maintain a lane. The firefighter followed the vehicle all the way to Fast Stop Groceries and Liquor, 301 West Canal Drive, where he observed the driver get out, walk into the store, and walk back out a few minutes later with alcohol.
As the driver got back into his vehicle and attempted to leave, an officer pulled up behind him and initiated a traffic stop. The officer pulled the driver out of the vehicle and began conducting standardized field sobriety tests on him, ultimately determining from them that the driver was indeed intoxicated and placing him under arrest.
The officer transported the driver to a local hospital for a blood draw and then later booked him into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on unknown charges.
The driver’s identity is unknown at this time.
