At about 10:20 pm Thursday night, a Turlock Police officer in the parking lot of Safeway, 3051 Countryside Drive, Turlock, on-viewed a Can-Am off-road vehicle driving recklessly. The officer attempted to stop, but it fled and he lost it.
Another officer in the area on-viewed a black Chevrolet pickup truck with an empty trailer configured to transport a Can-Am leaving the area where it was last seen, so he made a traffic stop on it after on-viewing it commit a Vehicle Code violation. The stop led to the arrest of Carlos Galvanchacon, 21, of Turlock for driving without a license. Galvanchacon was cited and released and the trailer was towed away because it was unregistered.
Officers checked the area where the pickup truck had come from, but were unable to locate the off-road vehicle.
About an hour later, an officer at the intersection of South Avenue and West Avenue South spotted it. He attempted to make a traffic stop but it fled and went northbound in the southbound lanes of State Route 99 from Lander Avenue. The pursuit was then terminated for safety reasons.
