At about 10:10 pm Monday night, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported sick animal near the intersection of East Canal Drive and Mitchell Ave, Turlock.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a small brown male dog suffering from some sort of wound on or near his eye with blood coming out of it, but otherwise alert, conscious, and oriented.
Officers made contact with a subject next to the dog who told them that he accidentally ran it over, after seeing something in the roadway but not realizing it was a dog until it was too late. Luckily, the vehicle just barely hit the dog’s face and only caused minor injuries.
Officers called the dog’s owners and asked them to respond to the scene after finding their phone number on a tag worn by the dog. The owners responded and picked up the dog, promising that they would seek medical attention in the morning. The owner stated that the dog had gotten away from them and that they were looking for him. The dog was happy to be reunited.
