At about 9:20 pm Wednesday night, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of Lander Avenue and West Greenway Avenue, Turlock, on-viewed a vehicle commit a violation of the California Vehicle Code. The officer got behind the vehicle and attempted to pull it over by activating his emergency lights, however, the driver decided to not comply and floored it.
The officer initiated a pursuit and chased the vehicle southbound on Lander Avenue, through the neighborhood in Hilmar near First Street and Lander Avenue, and then southbound on Columbus Avenue from Bloss Avenue. While on Columbus Avenue near Turner Avenue, the officer lost the vehicle and terminated the pursuit.
A subsequent search of the area yielded no results.
A records check on the vehicle’s license plate revealed that it was a stolen vehicle. The pursuit lasted approximately ten minutes and speeds reached approximately one hundred miles per hour.
The investigation remains on-going.
