At about 1:29 am Saturday morning, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a vehicle collision with unknown injuries in front of a residence in the 3800 block of North Berkeley Avenue, Turlock.
When officers arrived on scene, they found three vehicles involved. One was a black Nissan sedan, one was a black Audi sedan, and one was a black Land Rover SUV.
The black Nissan sedan had three occupants, neither of which suffered any injuries. The other two vehicles were parked on the side of the road and unoccupied.
The black Nissan sedan and the black Audi sedan sustained moderate damage and were deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring them to be towed away. The black Land Rover SUV sustained minor damage and was also deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring it to be towed away.
Officers began investigating and determined that the black Nissan sedan was traveling northbound on North Berkeley Avenue when for an unknown reason it struck the rear of the black Audi sedan just as it passed Chandler Drive, pushing it into the black Land Rover SUV. Officers noticed signs of intoxication coming from the driver of the black Nissan sedan so they conducted standardized field sobriety tests and had him blow into a preliminary alcohol screening device. As a result of those tests, they developed probable cause to place him under arrest. He was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving while intoxicated. He was identified as Rafael Jimenez, 26, of Hughson.
