At about 11:50 am Wednesday morning, a Turlock Police officer attempted to stop a bicyclist in the 2800 block of Geer Road, Turlock, for his possible involvement in a burglary. The bicyclist failed to stop and led the officer on a pursuit.
Eventually, the bicyclist crashed into the vehicle of an assisting officer and was able to be taken into custody without further incident. He was identified as Joseph Yonan, 32, of Turlock.
Further investigation into the alleged burglary revealed that no burglary had actually occurred, however, the subject had several warrants out for his arrest, one of which was for a felony.
Yonan was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of resisting a peace officer in addition to his warrants.
No one was injured during the collision and the patrol vehicle sustained very minor and unnoticable damage to its pushbar.
