At about 9:45 pm Monday night, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of North Golden State Boulevard and West Monte Vista Avenue, Turlock.
When crews arrived on scene, they located two vehicles involved. One was a gray Dodge sedan and the other was a white Subaru SUV.
The gray Dodge sedan only had one occupant, its driver, later identified as Brian Ansel John, 34, of Turlock. He suffered minor injuries and refused to be transported to the hospital. The white Subaru SUV had two occupants, a driver and a passenger. They both suffered minor injuries and also refused to be transported to the hospital.
Both vehicles sustained major damage and were deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring them to be towed away.
It is currently unknown how the collision occurred.
Officers noticed signs of intoxication coming from John and asked him to participate in standardized field sobriety tests and blow into a preliminary alcohol screening device. John refused.
John was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving while intoxicated causing injuries and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater causing injuries.
