Save Mart Dumpster and Shopping Cart Catch Fire

At about 9:23 pm, the Turlock Fire Department was dispatched to a reported trash fire behind Save Mart, 2595 Geer Road, Turlock.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a fully involved dumpster. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in a couple minutes, preventing spread to any nearby structures. A shopping cart had also been burned.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. Arsonists have been known to light similar fires in the past in the same area.

The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to call Fire Marshal Mark Gomez at 209-669-2119.
