At about 9:42 pm Thursday night, the Turlock Police Department and Turlock Fire Department were dispatched to a reported vehicle collision with unknown injuries at the intersection of West Taylor Road and North Golden State Boulevard, Turlock.
When crews arrived on scene, they located a single vehicle involved, a white Volkswagen sedan, that had struck a traffic light pole.
The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was uninjured. His identity is currently unknown.
Officers noticed signs of intoxication coming from the driver of the vehicle. They asked him to participate in standardized field sobriety tests and to blow into a preliminary alcohol screening device. As a result of those tests, the subject was determined to be intoxicated and was subsequently arrested for it.
The vehicle sustained major damage and was deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring it to be towed away.
It is currently unknown how the collision occurred.
The subject was released on a citation on charges of driving while intoxicated.
