At about 1:38 am early Sunday morning, a Turlock Police officer near La Cantina, 142 South First Street, Turlock, heard several sounds of gunshots coming from the area. He responded to the business and was flagged down by witnesses who pointed out the responsible vehicle traveling northbound on South First Street.
He and other officers initiated a high risk stop on the vehicle and took its driver and passenger, later identified as Jesus Padilla-Rodriguez, 32, of Turlock, into custody at gunpoint with no further incident.
Throughout the course of the investigation, officers determined that Padilla-Rodriguez was the shooter and that the driver was not involved in the actual shooting itself. Padilla-Rodriguez had fired off several shots into the air near the business.
No injuries were reported.
Padilla-Rodriguez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on unknown charges.
