At about 3:26 am Saturday morning, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of West Main Street and West Avenue South, Turlock, observed a vehicle violating the California Vehicle code, so the officer made a traffic stop on it.
The officer made contact with the vehicle’s driver, Jose Rojas Gomez, 27, of Turlock, and noticed that he was exhibiting signs of impairment.
The officer removed Gomez from his vehicle and put him through standardized field sobriety tests. The officer then asked Gomez to blow into a preliminary alcohol screening device, which he refused to do. The officer’s suspicions that Gomez was impaired were confirmed by the tests.
Gomez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving while intoxicated. His vehicle was authority towed from the scene.
