At about 6:35 pm Thursday evening, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported vehicle collision with unknown injuries in the 2400 block of East Tuolumne Road, Turlock.
When crews arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved. One was a silver Ford pickup truck and the other was a white Ford pickup truck. A telephone box and sign were also involved.
The driver and only occupant of the silver Ford pickup truck, Wade Fullmer, 70, of Turlock, was uninjured. The white Ford pickup truck was parked in its driveway and unoccupied.
Officers noticed that Fullmer was exhibiting signs of impairment, so they asked him to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Fullmer participated in one, but refused to do the others. Officers then asked Fullmer to blow into a preliminary alcohol screening device, which he did. As a result of the tests, officers developed probable cause to believe that Fullmer was indeed impaired.
Fullmer’s vehicle sustained minor damage but was deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring it to be towed away. The white Ford pickup truck also sustained minor damage, and it was left parked in its driveway.
It is currently unknown how the collision occurred.
Fullmer was arrested and released on a citation on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater.
