At about 3:09 am Saturday morning, a Stanislaus State Police officer near the intersection of North Kilroy Road and West Christoffersen Parkway, Turlock, observed a vehicle violating the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.
The officer made contact with the vehicleโs driver, identified as Leroy Carl Gonzales, 30, of Turlock, and his passenger.
When the officer ran a records check on Gonzales, he discovered that he was on post release community supervision, was restrained from the passenger in his vehicle, and was not a licensed driver.
Gonzales was detained in handcuffs for further investigation and a search of his vehicle was conducted as authorized by the terms of his post release community supervision. The search yielded a tear gas style weapon that he was prohibited from possessing.
Gonzales was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of violating a domestic violence court order, driving without a valid license, and possession of a tear gas weapon by a prohibited person.
