Man Arrested After Attacking Man with Shovel

Subject Leads Officers on High Speed Fifty Mile Pursuit

At about 9:15 pm Tuesday night, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported aggravated assault that had just occurred at Avena Bella Apartments, 500 West Linwood Avenue, Turlock.

When officers arrived on scene, they found both the suspect and the victim.

The suspect was identified as Cisco Angeles, 25, of Turlock. He was detained without further incident to investigate.

Officers began investigating and determined that Angeles had showed up at the apartment complex and attacked the victim and his vehicle with a shovel, believing that the victim had previously stolen his phone. The victim had nothing to do with the theft and had never seen Angeles before. The victim then armed himself with a pipe and disarmed the suspect after being struck with the shovel.

Both suffered moderate non-life threatening injuries.

Angeles was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of aggravated assault and vandalism over $400.
